Plain-English definitions for the terminology used across Stadium View.
- American Odds
- Odds expressed as a positive or negative number; positive shows how much you profit on a $100 bet, negative shows how much you must wager to win $100.
- Arbitrage
- Betting on all possible outcomes of an event across different bookmakers to guarantee a profit regardless of the result.
- Asian Handicap
- A handicap system that eliminates the draw option and uses quarter-goal increments to reduce ties.
- Bankroll
- The total amount of money you have set aside for betting activities.
- Both Teams to Score
- A bet on whether each side will find the net at least once during the match.
- Cash Out
- A feature that lets you settle a bet before the event ends, locking in a profit or limiting a loss.
- Decimal Odds
- A way of displaying odds as a single number that includes your stake; multiply your bet by this number to calculate the payout.
- Draw No Bet
- A market where you pick a winner, but if the match ends in a tie, your stake is refunded.
- Fractional Odds
- Odds shown as a fraction, such as 5/1, meaning you win five units for every one unit wagered.
- Futures
- A bet placed on an event that will be decided later, such as which team will win the World Cup.
- Goal Line
- The total number of goals set by the bookmaker for a match; you bet on over or under that line.
- In-Play Betting
- Placing a bet after the match has started, with odds that update as the game progresses.
- Juice
- The commission that the sportsbook charges for taking your bet, usually built into the odds.
- Moneyline
- A bet on which team will win the match, with odds that reflect each team's chance of winning.
- Odds
- The numerical expression of how likely an outcome is to happen, determining how much you can win.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total number of goals scored in a match will be higher or lower than a number set by the sportsbook.
- Parlay
- A single bet that links together two or more individual wagers and pays out only if all of them win.
- Payout
- The total amount you receive when a bet wins, including the original stake and profit.
- Point Spread
- A handicap that subtracts goals from the favorite and adds goals to the underdog to make both sides equally attractive to bettors.
- Prop Bet
- A wager on a specific occurrence within a match, like which player will score the first goal.
- Push
- When a bet ends in a tie and all wagers are refunded, often in point spread markets.
- Stake
- The amount of money you risk on a single bet.
- Value Bet
- A wager where the odds offered by the bookmaker are higher than the true probability of the outcome, giving an edge to the bettor.
- Void
- A bet that is canceled and the stake returned, usually because a match was postponed or a market was not offered.
